I. Lesson Topic: Newton’s 2nd Law
II. Lesson:
Recall: Newton’s 1st Law.
Objects in motion will remain in motion.
Objects at rest will remain at rest.
UNTIL an external force acts upon the object.-->There is where the 2nd Law comes into play.
There has been an external force acting on the object in question. What happens now? The object will begin to accelerate. This could mean the object…
Speeds up
Slows down
Changes direction
A combination of changing speed and direction
How is this acceleration modeled mathematically?
ΣF = ma
ΣF--> The sum of forces (aka, Net force) --> Newtons (N)
All forces are measured in Newtons.
m --> mass--> kilograms (kg)
This is the only SI unit in Physics that has a prefix
a--> acceleration--> m/s2
Recap the five forces discussed in the video…
Gravity
Normal
Friction
Tension
Spring
At this point, aside from gravity, I will not be giving equations for the forces.
How to solve a problem with multiple forces...
1. Draw a Free-Body Diagram
2. Sort forces into X and Y directions
a. If a vector is split between X and Y, then use SOH CAH TOA to resolve the vector
b. The FBD should not include the components of the vector
3. Determine which direction, X or Y, there is acceleration, if any
4. Solve!

I. Lesson Topic: Biology--Protection for Species in Danger (SDG 14 and 15), 50 minutes
II. Lesson Goal:
1. To help students understand the importance of species protection
2. To inspire students with the motive to protect species in danger
3. To encourage students to take real action to protect one species in danger
School:Bloomfield Hills High
Time:February 24, 2022
I. Lesson Plan: Introduction to the United States Judicial System, 50 minutes
II. Content Objective: Students will be introduced to the basic tenants of the United States Judicial System laid out in the Constitution. Key concepts will include: an independent judiciary, judicial review, habeas corpus, and jury by peers.
III. Warm-up
-
Ask students to brainstorm what they think would be important in the structure of a judicial system.
This will be an interactive presentation inviting students to make connections and comparisons with the Taiwanese system
-
Class discussion
-
What do students think we can learn from each other's systems?
-
Example: The US Bill of Rights is almost exclusively describing negative rights, things the government cannot do to its citizens. In Taiwan the Constitution also provides positive rights such as the right to vote or have an education.

February 17, 2022 “Everyday English Phrases”
I. Lesson Plan: 5 phrases, 50 minutes, 35 students
II. Content Objective: Students can understand the five new phrases by providing real world situations, and understand where they are grammatically placed.
III. Language Objective: Students can orally explain and apply the five new phrases to real world situations, all while being grammatically correct.
-
Warm-up – 4 mins
-
Groups – 15 mins
-
Class discussion: design a skit with all the phrases learned today – 3-5 mins
-
Make sure language objectives are completed through final class discussion with any questions
-
Explain ‘class feedback’ section on skit worksheet
